Unit Price Calculator:
Which Is Cheaper?
To find the unit price, divide the price by the quantity. Enter two or more products below, in any size or unit, to see which one is the better deal.
Product B is the best deal, 17% cheaper per 100 g than the most expensive one.
How to Compare Unit Prices
Grocery stores in Canada show the unit price on most shelf labels, but they do not always use the same unit. One brand might show the price per 100 g and another the price per kg, and sale prices often are not included. This calculator converts every product to the same unit, including multi-packs like 12 × 355 ml cans, so you can see the real best deal.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I calculate unit price?
Divide the price by the quantity. For example, $5.99 for 750 g is $5.99 ÷ 750 × 100 = $0.80 per 100 g. Do the same for every product in the same unit, and the lowest unit price is the best deal.
Is the bigger size always cheaper?
No. Sales and multi-buy deals often make the smaller size cheaper per gram or per litre. Always compare the unit price, not the package price.
Why can't I compare grams with millilitres?
Weight and volume are different things, and the conversion depends on the product. Compare products that are both sold by weight or both sold by volume. For water-like drinks, 1 ml weighs about 1 g.
Are shelf-label unit prices accurate?
Usually, but stores sometimes show one product per 100 g and another per kg, or leave out the sale price. Entering the prices here puts every product in the same unit.
