When people in Toronto think of cherry blossoms, they usually think of High Park or Trinity Bellwoods. But I recently read about the cherry blossoms at Centennial Park in Etobicoke and decided to check them out.
Thanks to the warm weather, the trees bloomed about 15 days earlier than the year before, and they were as beautiful as ever. I think it was my first time seeing them bloom before May.
Where to Find Them
Hundreds of cherry trees line Rathburn Road toward Centennial Park Boulevard. A few parking lots in the park are within walking distance, and the TTC 48 bus also stops nearby.
Why I Loved It
It's much less crowded than the usual spots. I could take my time with the blossoms and get great photos without strangers in every shot.
While you're there, I highly recommend the Centennial Park Conservatory, a free greenhouse full of tropical and exotic plants.
Part of what makes cherry blossoms so special is how short the season is. I hope you get to see them before they're gone.
